We now stock new Amiga
International 1200 motherboards (excluding ROMs),
complete with metal shield and 12 month warranty. All
new motherboards supplied by Eyetech have had the full
range of board fixes carried out by us.
There are three fixes necessary in total, normally costing 30 each.
- Revision 2B/1.D.4 timing fault fix (see
the Motherboard Revision Levels document). Most new
(post 1995) A1200 motherboards have had this fix
carried out at manufacturing time - but all boards
are checked by us and the fix done if necessary.
- CC_RESET fix. A fault in the Gayle chip on all A1200's means
that any PCMCIA adapter cards are not actually reset
when the device driver software issues a CC_RESET command. This
prevents some cards - and all ethernet cards - working
properly and is therefore an essential fix if you wish to network
your A1200.
Unlike 'PD' fixes (including those carried out by some other dealers)
which prevent the subsequent use of any A1200 accessory which
attaches on or near the Gayle chip (eg the Elbox IDE flyer)
our modification is carried out underneath the board and is
compatible with all such accessories.
- Video tearing fix. This only occurs on new (ie post mid-1995) boards
and causes non-15Khz screen modes to exhibit horizontal tearing and
random screen pixellation with most monitors. This is a result of (substandard)
EMC filters fitted to these boards to meet new EC RF emission regulations.
We modify all new motherboards with the proper components. Pre 1995 boards
(ie those carrying a Commodore badge) do not have this problem - but they
would not meet the current EC regulations either!
A replacement motherboard
is usually the best long term solution if you have a
damaged or unreliable A1200.
